LIST Ventures launches the venture academy
Building on the success of its inaugural cohort, LIST Ventures officially launches its spin-off ideation coaching programme for scientists and announces its first cohort.
LIST Ventures, the venture builder of the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), announced during its internal event Embrace the Spin-off Spirit! the official launch of the Venture Academy — a six-month coaching programme designed for scientists looking to turn their research into high-impact entrepreneurial ventures.
With the Venture Academy, we challenge the myth that scientists cannot be entrepreneurs. We bridge the gap between lab and market by equipping researchers with the tools they need to explore spin-off ideas and, ultimately, launch spin-off companies based on innovations developed at LIST - Alex Godlewski, Head of Ventures
A programme built for scientist-entrepreneurs
Following the newly established strategy of LIST, and designed by its Head of Ventures, Alex Godlewski, the Venture Academy is aimed at LIST scientists eager to explore the path of entrepreneurship and spin-off creation. Over six months, participants gain the core business skills needed to present their spin-off projects in front of private investors and public institutions such as FNR and Luxinnovation.
Central to the programme is pitch mastery. Participants learn to craft a compelling value proposition (problem-solution fit), build a persuasive business case (market potential, customer segmentation), and present their spin-off project and team with confidence — skills that are decisive when it comes to attracting customers and raising funds.
Through LIST Ventures and the Venture Academy, I was able to bridge the gap between scientific and entrepreneurial mindset. Alex and Boris provided the tools, and guidance needed to build my very first pitch deck and present it in front of investors, attract a business entrepren
ur and secure a grant (FNR JUMP). All while completing my PhD! - Barnik Mandal
Next generation of scientist-entrepreneurs in the making
Following this initial success, LIST Ventures is opening internal applications for future cohorts, which will be supported on a rolling basis. Upcoming participants will have the opportunity to pitch in front of the LIST Venture Committee and an external panel of experts, such as PULSE, Technoport and LBAN, as well as at start-up events like the Luxembourg Venture Days.
