Vienna-based startup Social Cooling has raised €400,000 in pre-seed funding to further develop its innovative air conditioning system, Terra Breeze.
The device operates without an exhaust hose and stores heat internally using a patented phase-change material. According to the company, this can reduce energy consumption by up to 40% compared to conventional AC units.
Investors include Swiss entrepreneur Robert Lauko, Vienna-based Family Office c.e.l.l. Investment, Styrian energy tech firm Sabiatech, Philippe Draxler, and an unnamed business angel.
In addition to funding, the investors bring valuable expertise in sales strategy and product development.
"We’re not a typical software or AI startup – which makes fundraising more challenging. That’s why I’m especially proud we’ve found strong partners who believe in our vision," - CEO Philippe Schmit.
The new capital will be used to optimize the hardware, launch a first MVP, and develop a smart control system that detects room occupancy to optimize energy use. The official product launch is planned for September, starting with direct sales.
Pilot projects are already underway with partners including the Rewe Group in Cologne, the City of Vienna, Energie Steiermark, and municipalities in Luxembourg.
