MDsim Closes €2.3 Million Seed Round to Launch SPINEsim

MDsim, the medical technology startup developing Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) solutions for back pain prevention and spine surgery planning announces the successful closing of its oversubscribed €2.3 million seed funding round.

The round was led by Kadmos Capital, a UK-based venture capital firm focusing on deep tech including breakthrough health tech innovations. Joining Kadmos were Astorg Philanthropy Investments, represented and managed by the Fondation Roi Baudouin, along with a diverse group of new and existing business angels and family offices from across the globe who share MDsim’s vision for transforming spine care.

From the moment we met the founders, it was clear they were building an impactful company. At Kadmos, we were impressed by MDSim’s approach in building simulations to predict spinal conditions using a combination of computer modeling, data and AI. With Richard’s unparalleled expertise in spine surgery and Roger’s infectious drive, relentless energy and operational experience, we had no hesitation in backing their bold and ambitious mission”.  - Remy Kesrouani, Managing Partner at Kadmos Capital.

During the direct fundraising campaign, they received strong interest from the general community in MDsim’s mission. In response, they decided to open their cap table to everyone through a crowdfunding campaign in partnership with Capital Cell, a specialized platform for health focused startups. This initiative brought more than 75 individual investors, all committed to supporting the mission of improving the lives of people suffering from back pain.

We are thrilled and honored by the trust shown by Kadmos Capital, Astorg Philanthropy Investments, and our international community of angel investors, friends and family. This funding marks a crucial milestone in our journey to deliver patient-specific digital twin technologies that empower clinicians and optimize spine surgery outcomes.” - Roger Assaker, Co-founder and CEO of MDsim.

The seed funding will enable MDsim to bring to market the first release of two of its SaMD products, designed to assist spine surgeons in planning interventions and preventing degenerative conditions through data-driven, personalized simulations. With back pain being the leading cause of disability worldwide, MDsim is positioning itself at the intersection of advanced biomechanics, AI, and clinical decision support to reshape how spine care is delivered.
